There is a Cure for Diabetes: The 21-Day+ Holistic Recovery Program

by Gabriel Cousens, MD

The China Study helped push our health journey into a new and better direction, but it was the information presented by Dr. Gabriel Cousens that took us that step further.

Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by consistently high blood glucose (blood sugar) levels. The high blood glucose is the result of either inadequate insulin production or the body’s inability to properly use insulin. The cells become starved of the energy they need and serious complications can arise. It affects over 422 million people worldwide and is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, amputations, heart failure and stroke.

The outlook for one with diabetes can seem grim. Type 1 diabetes in particular is considered to be irreversible. Dr. Gabriel Cousens, M.D., offers hope in his book There is a Cure for Diabetes. His program, which he explains in detail, has not only helped those with type 2 diabetes, but those with type 1.

Before getting into the program, Dr. Cousens delves into what diabetes is and its risk factors and complications. The information provides insight into various factors and connections that may be overlooked. For instance, genetics may not play as much of a role in the development of diabetes as we may believe.

The Dr. Cousens’s Diabetes Recovery Program reduces strain on the pancreas by decreasing the amount of carbohydrates and ensuring the adequate consumption of healthy fats. While protein is important, it should be eaten in moderate amounts. The information in the book reveals the dangers of overconsuming calories, and emphasizes the efficiency of the human body.

The program is based on a live food diet. Cooking and high heats can change the structure of foods and destroy or reduce the effectiveness of enzymes. A live-food diet means that the food is minimally cooked to help retain more of its nutritional content. It may be subjected to low heat in the form of dehydration in a dehydrator to help remove, and prevent the build up of, bacteria. Numerous recipes are included.

This book is highly recommended for those who want a better understanding of diabetes. We feel this is one of the best books out there on the subject.
